Anna Messerer
b.1969
Anna Messerer works with painting as a form of lived experience, engaging with what becomes part of her own life such as home, northern expanses, sacred architecture, nature, and human presence.
Forms are built through soft, flowing layers of color. Light emerges from within the canvas itself. Her practice is shaped by a sustained engagement with color. Light tonalities of blue, green, and ochre define a distinctive palette in which visual softness is balanced by depth of the painted surface.
Anna Messerer received her artistic education at the Moscow Krasnopresnenskaya Art School and the Moscow Architectural Institute. She lives and works in Peredelkino near Moscow. The northern regions of the Vologda area also remain an important environment within her practice.
Works by the artist are held in museum collections including the Dionisy Frescoes Museum and the Cherepovets Art Museum, as well as in private collections across Russia, Europe, the United States, and Japan.
